Home Based Interventions
The elements of family interventions most frequently used in differing combinations are psycho-education, behavioral problem solving, family support, and crisis management. Interventions differ in whether they are conducted with individual families or groups of families and whether they are in vivo, in the home, or out of the home. They also differ in whether the patient is included or excluded, the length of the intervention, and the phase of illness of the patient at the time of the intervention.
There is substantial evidence that psycho educational family interventions reduce the rate of patient relapse.
Our dedicated Mental Health Professionals carry out in effective way the home based Interventions directed towards the achievement of complete mental health of individuals.

- The construct of expressed emotion (EE) has played a significant role in the evolution of professional interventions directed at families. During a structured interview, families are assigned an EE rating based on observations of critical comments, hostility, and over involvement.
A body of literature suggests that patients living with families characterized by high levels of EE are more vulnerable to relapse thus; many interventions have targeted high EE families because those families are most likely to benefit from the intervention.
However, the utility of this construct has been criticized. Determining the validity of the EE construct and whether high EE causes relapse is not the purpose of this review and will not be directly addressed. However, EE will be discussed in the context of patient heterogeneity, because many studies reviewed here include only those patients from families with high EE.
Advantages
Comfort
1.Patients are seen on their turf – in their real lives.
2.Opportunity to observe the conditions patients live in.
Assessing & Intervening in Context
1.Can treat or intervene in patient’s environment, not just with pills or from afar.
2.Highly effective for: Parenting issues interventions; Child abuse/danger ; and Pre & post adoption issues.
3.Understanding the patient’s environment.
4.As they say: “Health isn’t just a diagnosis, it is how you live”.Cutting ER( Emergency Room) and Hospitalization Costs.
1.ER visits and hospitalizations are very expensive in comparison to home visits.
2.Home visits can prevent ER visits and hospitalization by dealing with the problems before crisis occurs.
3.There is a surge in in-home or home-based intervention in the 21st century due to increased demand from aging population, advance radiology and lab technologies, and pressure to decrease the cost of mental health and medical treatments.
4.Home-based Intervention works well in conjunction with tele-medicine, tele-health, and tele-mental-health to provide effective and low cost treatment.
